THE ROLE The Senior Director of Investor Relations and Corporate Communications will lead the planning, management, and execution of all investor relations and communications activities.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this individual will design a proactive investor relations plan, drive execution, and provide recommendations on all aspects of our investor and communication activities.

The candidate will have strong interpersonal, organizational, communications and business skills.

BENEFITS / PERKS Competitive health insurance coverage $150/ monthly non-taxable remote work stipend Generous PTO allowance 401k match Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP) Commuter Benefits Women’s forum / mentoring Office based in the heart of San Francisco, near plenty of shops and restaurant Fun opportunities to engage with co-workers in-person and remotely KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Work to develop and execute investor relations strategy, communications planning, and message development and execute investor relations tactics to achieve plan objectives Develop and maintain relationships with both existing and targeted new institutional investors and sell-side analysts Draft financial, clinical, regulatory, and all other press releases and manage the review and distribution process Maintain the corporate presentation, ensuring a clear and compelling investment thesis Lead quarterly earnings process, including earnings release, call scripts, FAQs, and other logistics Manage and attend investor conferences and non-deal roadshows, including targeting, one-on-one meeting scheduling, and other logistics Provide market intelligence internally on company and peer stock trading activity Support website development and maintenance with ownership for all corporate and investor pages Manage all aspects of annual shareholder meeting process working alongside Finance and Legal teams for annual report and proxy Develop an internal communications framework to align company strategy, engage all employees, and communicate progress against key milestones and metrics REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE At least 10 years of experience in investor relations (in-house or agency), investment banking, equity research, or buy-side investing, particularly with a focus on biotechnology or pharmaceuticals Bachelor’s degree required Demonstrated knowledge of financial markets and drug development/commercialization Strong communication skills, including verbal and written Ability to rapidly learn about 89bio’s strategy, pipeline, and target indications, including a facility with technical information, such as preclinical/clinical data, mechanisms of action, etc.
