Production Manager

Judson Smith is based just outside Boyertown, PA is a wholly-owned subsidiary of ATW Companies.  We are a leading manufacturer of metal tubular parts and machined components to custom specifications for the medical device, aerospace and automotive industries.  Capabilities include Swiss Screw machine parts, laser cutting and welding, tube fabrication, CNC milling/turning, wire EDM and more. 

The Production Manager is responsible for coordinating the efforts of manufacturing employees in the effort to produce a quality, cost competitive product in a timely manner that will exceed stakeholders’ expectations; developing processes that will enable the organization to exceed all company objectives established including on-time delivery, quality, shipments, bookings and profitability.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Create and maintain a clean and safe workspace at all times, being attentive to surroundings and participate in keeping self and coworker’s safe. 
• Coordinate and manage day-to-day activities of all manufacturing product lines.
• Directs and monitors department Supervisor(s) to accomplish goals of the manufacturing plan, consistent with established manufacturing and safety procedures.
• Coordinate and/or supports Continuous Improvement projects.  Strategizes with production management and quality management; initiates sustainable process improvements to exceed customer expectations; creates and conducts training programs; educates plant personnel on lean methodology and identifying the best projects for implementation.
• Work closely with other departments such as Sales, Quality, and Engineering to coordinate timely and effective production of new products and improvements to existing products.
• Oversee the development of new manufacturing processes and updating of existing processes as required for new developments in technology.
• Investigate the cause of non-conformances and develop corrective actions by analyzing related specifications and processes to detect root cause.
• Support audit activities as needed.  Help maintain ISO certifications by assisting, supporting, and maintaining established quality system
• Employees must understand the general requirements of ISO/AS9100D and FDA standards; employees are expected to understand the Quality Policy and have a working knowledge of the Quality Management System in terms of their job function and interaction with process owners.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

IDEAL EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum 5-7 years’ of management experience working in areas of manufacturing production operations.
• Prior experience leading a group of employees, including performance management, with the ability to affectively coach and motivate employees.
• Familiarity with failure analysis methods (Internal & Customer) and associated process of corrective and preventive actions.
• Experience with MRP systems and ISO compliant quality systems.
• Strong technical background and aptitude; leads cross-functional lean projects to drive standardization, stabilization and simplification of the production process; drives lean implementation to improve operations and business processes.
• Demonstrated ability to utilize advanced root cause problem solving and analytical tools.
• Ability to lead and motivate a team within an organization experiencing substantial growth and implementing Lean manufacturing methodologies.  Talent management skills should include: review of current staff, training, developing, and ability to make subsequent staffing decisions in a timely manner.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 year’s related experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated knowledge in continuous improvement skills, including the ability to teach others.
