Position Summary

The Assistant Director, Fraternity and Sorority Life is a full-time, 12-month, live on professional who is responsible to lead, support, and further develop a vibrant Greek community at La Salle.

The Assistant Director will create and implement leadership opportunities and programs for students involved in these organizations.

The Assistant Director also serves in the Residence Life On-Call rotation.

• Coordinate and provide primary University administrative support of Greek social and service organizations including advising, monitoring accreditation program, and adherence to local, state, and federal laws

• Promote awareness of Greek social and service organization activities

• Collect and maintain relevant information regarding fraternities and sororities (new member lists, current membership records and eligibility certification)

• Create opportunities to diversify the La Salle University Greek community in order to be more representative of the student population

• Serve as University liaison with national fraternity and national sorority representatives
o Serve in residential On-Call rotation:
o Maintain current understanding of University policies, procedures, facilities, and resources
o Respond to emergency situations as outlined in the Crisis 101 Document
o Provide appropriate support and follow-up to students and staff involved in emergency situations
o Document emergency situations through the online Incident Report
o Maintain communication with the Director of Residence Life and/or the Director of Student Conduct to keep them informed of emergency situations as appropriate.

Secondary Responsibilities

• Develop partnership with Alumni Relations to connect Greek letter alumni with the University and their active student organizations

• Foster a work environment that encourages knowledge, respect and development of skills to engage with diverse members of the La Salle community

• Remain competent and current about understanding national trends about vibrant Greek Life and leadership development by developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development experiences and attending training and/or courses as required by the Vice-President of Student Affairs

• Assists with divisional sponsored events.

Required Qualifications

• Master degree in college student personnel, counseling, higher education administration, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• One year experience required

• Demonstrated understanding of federal, state and local laws and regulatory processes related to vibrant and healthy Greek organizations.

• Familiarity with University policies and procedures.

• Must live on-campus in University-provided housing.

• Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of La Salle University.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with directly advising Greek student organizations

• Experience with leadership programming and initiatives

• Previous staff responsibility in a residential environment

• Experience with student life on an urban, Catholic residential campus and commitment to the ongoing enhancement of student learning and student life in such a setting

Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours

• Evening and weekend work comprise the bulk to the Coordinator on Call responsibility

• Evening and weekend work may be necessary for other responsibilities during peak times

• Must have ability to be mobile throughout the La Salle community (on campus and off campus), including the ability to climb stairs
