The Sourcing Buyer – Logistics is directly responsible for providing procurement expertise and support for logistics and supply chain throughout North America.  A key deliverable is working with key stakeholders to ensure suppliers provide the best price, quality and service to Grupo Bimbo.  This is a fast-paced, detailed orientated, position in which the procurement individual will work with internal stakeholders across North America to manage specific supply chain/logistics categories including outside storage, trailer and truck leasing/rental, automotive/garage, and freight and logistics.  Responsible for  assisting Sourcing Manager with projects/tasks assigned, and drive value and efficiencies in the responsible categories.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage supplier relationships and assist internal customers to address escalated issues.
  • Work closely with Manager and internal customers to conduct RFI/RFQ/RFPs in assigned categories
  • Review and negotiate pricing/contracts.
  • Supporting cost saving initiatives.
  • Document, track, analyze, and report purchase metrics, company/category compliance metrics and supplier performance metrics; generate reports as required; ongoing evaluation of current market trends and purchase history; identify opportunities and make recommendations for process improvements within the procurement area.
  • Liaison with Accounts Payable Group for resolution of escalated payment issues, supplier invoice process through auditing, analysis and approval.
  • Involvement in preparing business review presentations.
  • Performs special projects as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred; Supply chain, logistics, procurement experience preferred.
  • At least 3-5 years of related experience.
  • A combination of education, training and experience that results in demonstrated competency to perform the work may be substituted.
  • Indirect or Direct spend purchasing experience preferred.
  • May involve 10-15% travel to BBU and Bimbo Canada meetings, suppliers, affiliates, trade shows, etc.

Key Behavioral Competencies:

  • Self-directed, self-motivated, and detail oriented.

  • 5 years related experience in supply chain management or procurement, preferably in supply chain categories.

  • Strong analytical, prioritization and decision-making skills.

  • Proven ability to implement procurement processes and coordinate across multiple sites.

  • Knowledge of ERP / Office Suite Systems / Expertise in Excel and Power Point.

  • Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communications, and presentation skills.

  • Strong problem solving skills.

  • Experience managing and measuring work.

  • Track record of building strong peer and stakeholder relationships.
