Purchasing Agent


This is a Full-time position in Reading, PA posted July 17, 2021.

The Vehicle Supply Specialist is responsible for the purchasing of new vehicles, vehicle components, and services to provide our customers with a complete new vehicle. Evaluates quotes, selects/recommends suppliers and negotiates; price, quality, and service. Issues all purchase orders to set up the successful production of a unit. Follows up on all awards until completion of order. Negotiates and settles with suppliers regarding return of materials, cancellations and engineering change orders as necessary. Oversees and/or conducts customer specification reviews, supplier site visits and audits as necessary. Responsible to maintain data in the Specification Configurator system maintaining alignment with or original equipment manufacturers (OEM?s). Provides expert guidance to our Sales Force and Rental team for operations in the US, Canada and Mexico. All of these efforts equate to an annual spend of 3.0 billion dollars. Major Responsibilities: Standard Purchase Requests ? Processing, approval, creation of purchase orders and changes orders for lease deals ? evaluate, qualify, and negotiate terms. . Non-standard Purchase Requests – Processing and approval of non-standard deals – evaluate, qualify, negotiate terms and set up new suppliers to meet the business needs Standard Purchase Requests to support Consumer Rental, Commercial Rental and District Service vehicles White Glove Treatment – Facilitate specification confirmation reviews with sales, end customers and OEM?s to ensure accuracy for ?big deals?, new customers, or customers requesting special review of order Manager OEM/supplier relationship ? Understand all timelines/deadlines, conduct regular meetings and make sure all specs are current/accurate??????? Maintain data in the Specification Configuration system Other projects and tasks as assigned by manager Qualifications: ? Bachelor’s degree in Business or Supply Chain preferred ? 7-10 years experience in purchasing environment with a large organization required ? Prior experience with new and used vehicle market required. ? Prior experience with specialty vehicle equipment and OEM manufacturers preferred ? Strong written and verbal communication skills required, this position will intereact with internal associates up to and including senior leadership and also with external vendors. ? Ability to review workorders, specification sheets which requires attention to detail to assure accuracy. ? Proficiency in PC use required, experience with Word, Excel, and Access preferred. This position will also use in-house proprietary systems. ? Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job. ?
