Material Planner


This is a Full-time position in Johnstown, PA posted February 22, 2021.

Join a leading metal fabrication shop that designs and machines complex parts that are used in material handling equipment and armored vehicles for the U.S. military.

JWF Industries is seeking a Material Planner to join their dedicated team in Johnstown, PA to provide the primary interface between company operations and the supply base for assigned projects. This role will be responsible for the most cost effective use of company funds to procure assigned materials and services.

Essential Duties:

  • Manage, Support and Monitor Material and Services from Source to Customer. Quoting, Purchasing, Receiving, Internal Operations, Shipment, to Warranty. Will include but not limited to Cycle Counts, Point of Use and Inventory Control
  • Obtain quotes as a basis for negotiating new contracts and expired existing items from qualified suppliers.
  • Initially load materials management programs with the suppliers in support of the needs of manufacturing operations. And contribute to cost effective procurement.
  • Coordinate major production schedule changes with the suppliers by negotiating price and or schedule adjustments
  • Assists in setting standard costs and controlling Purchase Price Variance (PPV) of assigned commodities and services in compliance with company Processes and Policies
  • Manage and be cognitive of all strategic communications between company and suppliers of assigned commodities and services
  • Maintain a professional and ethical business relationship with suppliers and vendors.
  • Work effectively with all other company personnel to assure compliance with company policies, procedures, and the JWF Mission and Vision.
  • Manage assigned commodities including price, quality, delivery, and warranty. This includes technical coordination and performance metric reporting.
  • Assure compliance of material and services that meet or exceed customer requirements and specifications.
  • Maintain and Report Material Status and cost information within the companies Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system

Job Requirements:


  • Experienced In use of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems.
  • BS degree from 4-year College; or two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
