Job Description

Digital I&T Innovation and Outreach is responsible for stewardship of the innovation process, building out an ecosystem of relationships with innovators for co-creation, and accelerating the pace of importing and nurturing digital innovation in our community.

The Senior Manager, External Network Orchestration will work closely with the Head Digital I&T Innovation and Outreach to deliver the strategic digital health and outreach agenda enabling innovation-based relationships and to spawn a culture of innovation across CSL.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced research specialist with excellent communication and project management skills to work on several tech/innovation focused projects and drive the next wave of digital health solutions to save lives and improve healthcare.

The candidate will work across the organization with colleagues to help manage internal and external innovation projects and educate key stakeholders on the value innovation brings to the business.

The individual should be creative, detail-oriented, well-organized, and capable of handling multiple projects at once.

The individual should be comfortable working across teams in a matrixed organization.

Success of this role will be measured based on the individual project metrics and engagement, and the individual’s strength in high performance teaming in a diverse team setting.

This role is global in nature, working closely with innovation leaders across the business and externally.

Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities:


Research competitive intelligence to establish a pulse on the external environment, focused on emerging technologies, digital health, and life sciences, prepare presentations, and arrange briefings as needed.


Assist in the creation of a portfolio of industry innovation challenges and opportunities where digitization has the potential to be differentiating and disruptive.


Produce education events for key constituencies on the business implications of digital innovation and outreach.


Coordinate and arrange visits to start-ups, academia, and digital innovation centers (e.g., Silicon Valley, Melbourne).

Plan and manage visits, prepare meeting materials as needed, and attend meetings to manage logistics along the way, prepare summary and note action items.


Coordinate internal processes and community building for digital innovation, including boot camps, ambassador’s networks, and strategic transformation programs.


Support the Head of Innovation and Outreach with activities to build a culture of innovation where each employee brings their creative selves to work.


Track milestones for realizing value from digital innovation and outreach.

Benchmark and track indicators of change across the organization, including innovation as a tool to drive collaboration and business results.


Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; education preferably concentrated in IT, Computer Science, Science, Psychology or equivalent.

Advanced degree preferred.


6+ years’ relevant experience in research methods, event planning and project management

2+ years’ demonstrated leadership experience and/or managerial experience

Experience managing innovation and/or research-based creativity projects where new ideas come to life

Pharma/Biotech or similarly regulated environment experience desirable

Demonstrated ability to influence internal colleagues and/or external partners through clear, concise, and impactful verbal and written communication skills.

Experience managing multiple projects at once.

Experience creating educational programs.

Demonstrated ability of being detail-oriented and well-organized.

Demonstrated experience building, mentoring, and collaborating on a high-performing and cohesive team.

Adaptable to handle a fast-paced working environment.

Exceptional listener and collaborator.
