Payroll Tax Specialist

The OpportunityThe Payroll Tax Specialist is responsible for supporting the Payroll department in administering day to day operations related to multi-state payroll tax compliance, customer service, reporting, and auditing.* Be well versed in multi-state compliance regarding payroll taxes & final pay laws, etc.* Review of submitted payroll changes to determine appropriate handling in accordance with payroll practices and policies.* Review all employee address changes and determine all associated tax changes (State, SUI, Local etc.) and update ADP Pay Profile accordingly.* Work directly with employees on maintaining either electronic or paper tax forms as required by state agencies.* Maintain Excel listing of all active State, SUI, Local, etc.

agency account numbers on a legal entity basis.* Assist Payroll Manager with registering for new payroll withholding accounts and closing accounts that are no longer required.* Research and document all employee and employer payroll related taxes in new jurisdictions, as needed.* Request tax codes in ADP Workforce Now for newly hired employees in new jurisdictions, as needed.* Inactivate tax codes in ADP Workforce Now that are no longer required, as needed.* Audit payroll registers to confirm all data changes prior to transmittal and all checks prior to pay date.* Manage year end internal audits.* Maintain & keep up-to-date Excel listing of final pay requirements by state.* Communicate annual SUI rate changes to ADP tax team and unemployment compensation team.* Assist Payroll Manager and ADP tax team with researching and resolving all agency notices received.* Review Multi-Jurisdiction ADP reports for all employees with state changes throughout the year.* Enter prior quarter adjustments or amendment requests for tax changes in ADP, as needed.* Provide Payroll/Compensation Database Support
– Assist with identifying system issues, testing and issue resolution when needed.

Appropriately route issues to Payroll Manager as needed.* Support Berkadia’s HR department with respect to data changes, new hires, terminations, policy/procedures etc.

Act as a customer service representative to all employees; former, active, and prospective.* Other payroll related activities, as needed.What someone will need to be successful in this role* Minimum one year of experience in a similar role.* High School Diploma or GED.* Adhere to Berkadia’s policies and exhibit proficiency and understanding of Berkadia’s Values and position-specific skills.* Microsoft Office experience required.
