Overview:Certified Athletic TrainerPHPN- OrthopedicsFull-TimeDuBois, PAAs a Certified Athletic Trainer: The Athletic Trainer (AT) specializes in the management, prevention, and recovery of injured patients. The AT collaborates with doctors to provide emergency and follow-up care and develop injury prevention and treatment programs for injured patients. Athletic trainers also provide a vital communication link between the injured athlete, the physician, the coach, and sometimes the athlete’s family to determine when it’s right to return to practice and competition.WHAT WE OFFER:Competitive compensation based on experienceProfessional developmentSupportive and Experienced PeersBENEFITS:Medical, Dental, and Vision offered the first of the month after your start dateCompany paid short-term disability coverageFlex Spending Account25% discount on services at all Penn Highlands Healthcare facilitiesEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)Responsibilities:*Complies with PENN HIGHLANDS DUBOIS policies and procedures, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state or local law and regulationsEvaluates injuries of athletes to determine course of action necessary for immediate treatment or possible referral for further medical treatmentAdministers first aid, where appropriate, or prepares and makes arrangements for the athlete to be transported to a doctors office or hospitalApplies specific and appropriate taping, protective devices or braces to the athlete in order to prevent injury or re-injury in athletic activitiesDevelops a program of rehabilitation in cooperation with medical resources to assist the injured athlete to return to the activityPerforms duties and is accountable for responsibilities of a certified athletic trainer as defined by the NATA, Inc. and within the scope of practice as defined by the Commonwealth of PAs State Board of Physical TherapyUtilizes effective interpersonal skills relating to the patient, family, and members of the health care teamTakes and records patients’ vital signs, health history and prepares patient prior to examination by the physician or mid-level provider. Records information in patients chart using age appropriate procedures.Obtain medication prior authorizations.Serve as a delegate for the provider by performing PDMP queries as required by DOHUse Cerner pharmacy to charge for medications administered in the practice.Reviews proxy boxes and routes or handles tasks appropriately.Explains the examinations, procedures, testing, follow-up care to patient and family and answers any questions they may have.Documents patient requests in phone notes and distributes accordingly. Follows up on phone messages by responding to patients with physician orders and recommendations.Cleans examination rooms and prepare examination tables. Drapes patients with covering and positions instruments and equipment. Hands instruments and materials to doctor as directed.Compile and record patient medical history, problem list, medications, Physicians orders and instructions, and other pertinent data for providers.Communicating pertinent information to providers, supervisors and coworkers to ensure patient throughput.Inventories and requisitions supplies.
